Another season of Diablo 3 begins today but you might not know what class you want to choose. Last Season made the choice a little easier as the Necromancer was introduced but now the honeymoon period is over and now we’re back to square one in terms of choosing a class.
This Season did change a few things up regarding your sets and Legendaries. Patch 2.6.1 reworked a lot of the gear so it’s worth checking out what changed. It’s possible your favorite gear received a rework and is either a lot better or a lot worse now. The patch went live in October but if you haven’t played in a while, here are the patch notes for the latest patch.
One thing new this Season is the Xbox One X. Diablo 3 received a patch on the new console that allows it to achieve a 4K resolution so decimating monsters has never looked so good on a console.
As with every Season, there’s a new set of armor that players will be working towards. This means if you stay with the same class every Season, you’ll be able to try something different each time. Of course you can always just find another set during the Season but this one will just be given to you as you complete the Seasonal Journey. Here are the sets you’ll be getting for each class:
- Barbarian – Immortal King’s Call
- Crusader – Seeker of the Light
- Demon Hunter – Natalya’s Vengeance
- Monk – Uliana’s Stratagem
- Necromancer – Trag’Oul’s Avatar
- Witch Doctor – Spirit of Arachyr
- Wizard – Vyr’s Amazing Arcana
We have seven classes to choose from thanks to the addition of the Necromancer which means there will be seven different sets to earn with this season. Keep in mind that once you complete one part of your Seasonal Journey, you won’t be able to go to another character and complete that part again. This means you will only be able to get one full set for the entire season so choose your class wisely.
Like every season before it, Season 12 will introduce new cosmetic rewards which are obtained by progressing through the seasonal journey. This season will give you a new set of wings, new portraits and the Chest and Gloves slot of the Conqueror Set.
If you’re having trouble choosing a class, you can use this trusty wheel and let the RNG gods decide your fate. As for me, I’m probably going to roll a Barbarian if I do decide to participate this time around. While Season 11 was fun since we had a new class, this Season looks like it’ll just be more of the same.
The Diablo franchise was not represented during BlizzCon 2017 which left many questioning what the direction of the series is. It’s not out of the realm of possibilities to expect a free-to-play version of Diablo 3 is coming in the future. It is already happening to Starcraft 2 so why not Diablo 3 next?
