After waiting most of the year, Injustice 2 has finally arrived on PC, even though we’ve pretty much knew it was coming the whole time. This review will be focusing strictly on the technical aspect of the game won’t touch on the content of the game a whole a lot. If you want to learn more about the game itself, head to our official review here.

Although players had to wait half a year for a PC port, it appears it was worth the wait. The game runs smooth and fighting feels just as fluid as it did on console. You will certainly get a lot more enjoyment out of the game if you’re using an Xbox One or PS4 controller versus using a keyboard.
There is a single-player campaign but with this being an online-centric fighter, you’re probably wondering the most about how it holds up while doing online matches. Surprisingly, it does so pretty well. Since the game just released and it is a competitive fighting game on Steam, the population for the game itself is pretty low, coming in at just a couple thousand players at any given time. As a result, this can give you some lengthy waits to get into games.
However, the net code is pretty good and most fights will end up being pretty stable, even if you or your opponent has a higher ping that usual. I haven’t noticed any visible lag or stuttering online which is pretty much the best compliment you can give you a fighter.
In terms of graphics, Injustice 2 looks excellent across every setting. Whether your PC can turn out Ultra quality graphics or if it can only churn out Low, it looks good no matter what. The required hardware isn’t all that high (2nd gen i3 or an FX AMD chip paired with a GTX 780, R9 290 or RX 570) so there’s likely a lot of gaming PCs out there that can handle this game even if they haven’t been upgraded in years.
On nitpick I do have with the game is the framerates. I’m not saying the framerates will be dropping and you’ll have a choppy performance but there is a cap of 60 in actual matches. This means that even if your PC can push higher framerates, it will always be locked at 60. Even more jarring is the fact that the cutscenes and menus are locked at 30 FPS. This isn’t really a huge issue but when you just finish up a fight in the single-player mode and then have the framerate cut in half, it can be a little distracting. I don’t have an ultra-wide monitor to test the 21:9 support with so unfortunately I can’t be much help there.
Outside of that, there aren’t many issues I had with this port. I wouldn’t expect anyone to make a jump from the console versions because of the low playerbase but if you’re looking for something to casually play, Injustice 2 on PC might fit the bill. All in all, I’d give this a recommendation if you’re in the market for PC fighter, it’s a pretty solid port despite the previous track record with Warner Bros games.
Pros:
- Great graphics across all settings
- No noticeable lag
- Solid port all around
Cons:
- Price is a little high
- Low playerbase
- Capped framerates
